This authentic string trimmer lever assembly is sold individually. The lever is what controls the amount of line that is fed from the auto-feed spool. The lever tends to wear over time, and so should be inspected regularly. If the automatic line feed is not working, a malfunctioning lever is likely the cause. Remove the spool and check if the lever in the spool housing can move freely, if not, adjust or replace if damaged.

Spring

Fix Number FIX10254180

Manufacturer Part Number 90566944

This is an OEM spring located between the spool and spool cover of your trimmer. It is designed to hold the spool in position. This spring can lose tension over time and may cause the trimmer head to feed too much line or not feed any line at all, indicating the need for a new spring. The spring applies pressure to the spool, pulling it firmly next to the top of the trimmer head and lever. The lever is what regulates the amount of line coming out of the spool. This repair could not be any easier, simply remove the trimmer head cap by pushing down on the two tabs on either side. This will expose the spring, which you will see positioned onto a tab on the cap, and can just be pulled off, and a new one can be installed in its place.

Manufacturer Part Number 143684-01

This part includes one OEM spool replacement for a trimmer. This spool includes 20-feet of factory-wound 0.65-inch line. The spool houses the cutting line and is located inside the cutting head to cut grass and weeds. The spool can wear over time from being repeatedly tapped against the ground. You might also replace it to avoid having to wrap a new trimmer line when it runs out. For this quick and easy DIY repair, start by removing the bump cap from the trimmer head, which is secured with two plastic locking tabs. Depress the tabs and remove the cap from the hub. Now it should be easy to just remove the spool. Then take the trimmer line and pull out a few inches and lock it into the tab on the spool to hold it in place. Next, thread the trimmer line through the eyelet, align the spool with the shaft, and tug on the trimmer line to free it from the holder. To finalize the repair, reinstall the bump cap.

Installation Instructions

Craig from FREMONT, CA

Always on equal a safety issue.

The switch has a spring tension so that the default condition is in the off position. The trigger moves the switch to the on position when the user grips the trigger mechanism and provides an active resistance to the spring portion of the switch, enabling power to the hedge trimmer motor. There are six to seven torx T15 screws that, when removed, enables the unit to separate into equal parts, exposing the internal trigger mechanism and the switch. The replacement drops right in after removing the old switch. Re connect the electrical connectors to the new switch. Re align the the two halves and tighten the torx screws. The hedge trimmer is then good to go! Read more...
